sounds good so far mary, i tell you what i did when i got him here, i spoke to him for a good while then notice he likes peanuts out of the shell and feed him some of them through the bars of the cage. after a while i open the cage as i wanted to get him into the larger one and ask him to step up(and got a nip  ) so i let him come out by him self and when he was on top of the cage he step up for me.
we got to a point when he was on his cage and i walk away he flew onto me and went where ever i went.
he let you rub his head when he in the MOOD  he the biggest chatter box i have ever heard!! i dont think he got proper handling......just due to poor education about birds....but he looks really healthy.
he really adore one to one chats and laughing........i dont think he ever be a cuddly birdie.....but he make up for it with the years of entertainment he will bring :D

He is a little frightened of me, maybe I came on too strong, I did the talking bit but I insisted on getting my hand to him and of course he bit me, but I didnt feel it as I had the sleeve of my fleece down over my hand, I was expecting the bite and I wanted to show him that his biting wouldnt get him what he wanted so he eventually came onto my arm and wlked up to my shoulder, I think he is great considering he has not received a lot of handling, he really does love being chatted to...Cricket is jealous   He will eat out of my hand and had some Harvest soak though he didnt eat that, and fruit, just bananna he didnt touch the apple, and toast for breakfast, he seemed to like the toast and took it gently from my hand. I have misted him with his spray and of course Cricket too, she is sooo soooo sooooooo jealous, when I chat to him she shows off in her cage, if she is out and I start taking pics she flies in the line of the camera...she is gas!! I dont mind about the conure not being cuddly if he is happy then I will be happy too and so far so good...he seems to like sound of the words Jolly Rodger so thats his new name. Rodger is such a jolly little character and you are right I will have lots of fun listening to him and watching him...the beak isnt too sore either and he does give a warning bite rather than a severe bite I love his loud scream!

Notice jealous madam showing off in the background!

Good on ya Mary, your doing a top class - A1 job clap
And now I'll officially wecome Rodger to the birdie clan
It is a very fine line between self protection and being bit but I've learned that sometime the bear hand is better to be in full view rather than hidden in a sleve dunno . From my experience with most of my crew they freak out when they see a sleeve - and that could still be said even of Bobby, but in saying that who wants to have blood drawn :!:
Is it a case with birds that - no pain ... no pleasure?
