Jenny, my grey, Kelly, took two days to stop being afraid of her orange cement perch, then spent days trying to distroy it, there is big bits missing out of it but she loves to rub her beak on it. Why cant they make them in neutral colours?!

Yes,
I can vouch for these perches too - they're top class.
I've one in with Jazmine, my weird specimen Senegal (that's another days work to explain that statement)
She took to it straight away.
Jenny, if I'm not mistaken the perch you have is a kind of chalky coated perch, which ondulates up and down/from narrow to wide and back again?
That's what I've got for Bob - I need to get him to take some amount of calcium as he freaks out at the sight of Cuttlefish (go fig) and this solved the problem for me, as it covers a few different fronts but I would say the Sandy perch is a better option if you've the calcium/cuttlefish option sorted.

I don't know how I missed the continuation of this thread; only just seeing it now!

Okay Damien, I'm curious about "weird Specimen Senegal," what is that all about?

Yes, the perch I got for Ruby is exactly as described - she's fine with it now and loves rubbing her beak along it, infact I find bits of green all over her cage now on branches and toys etc. It seems to have solved the original problem with the pressure spot on her foot. She's now finding her way around her new environment (livingroom) and is exploring more, therefore not spending hours just sitting on the wooden dowel on her stand. I havn't introduced her to a cuttlefish bone in her cage, I just scrape it onto her food and get the calcium into her that way - same with the Avipro.

Hi Peanut,
Avipro is used to keep the bacteria in the gut in good working order. It can be used for a wide variety of animals (including birds) and is especially good if the animal is or has been off their food. I've been using it for quite a while now on my other animals and we also use it for the animals in the shop where I work as a matter of course - about once every 10 days ish. It's a bit like us using Actimel or similar to keep our gut working correctly.

It is important that on the day Avipro is used that no Calcium product is used at the same time.

Hope this answer is okay.

Regards,
Jenny
