2 little Cockatiels who need a new home

Postby Gayle » Thu Jul 29, 2010 3:09 pm

I have 2 little cockatiels, male and female who are in need of a good home, preferably in an avery. My Partner gave me them after my 15 year old female cockatiel died, but the female of the pair, Holly, is very very nervous, and appears to be getting worse as time goes on. Her boyfriend Buddy tends to bully her, and loves all of the attention for himself, I do feel she needs space to get away from him. Buddy is quite friendly and loves attention, he loves to sing and will come to you and sit on your head if you let him, but will bite you if you try to rub his head. Holly is much happier out in the garden - its the only time I see her crest down and hear her whistle to the birds, and although I hate to admit it, she's not a happy little bird in a home environment and I think she would benifit tremendously from an Avery set up. So if there is a bird lover out there who has space in an avery there are 2 lovely little cockatiels who would love to hear from you, especially Holly.

Hi There,
I live in Athboy, Co. Meath................it would be less stressful for her!!! I hate giving them away, as there has always been a Cockatiel in my home, but in this case it seems more appropriate..............they were bought in a pet shop unfortunately, so I have no idea what their backround is, but both of them have rings on them, i am trying to upload a p

Welcome to the forum Gayle, sorry its under these circumstances. I do think you are doing the right thing, nice to see someone with the birds best interests at heart.

I know a few people have offered to take the birds, but heres an idea. There are several members here who handrear very tame and well socialised cockatiels. Why not see if someone can help you acquire a properly hand tame bird that will make a perfect pet.
They may even do a deal with you for your pair ;)
